White

When you stare into her eyes, it’s the color of her sinless soul. When you laugh together up to the sky, it’s the color of the clouds. When you kiss her goodbye at the door, it’s the color of the moon. When you see her walking to the altar, it’s the color of her dress. When she curls up next to you at night, it’s the color of your dreams. When you step out with her into winter air, it’s the color of your breath. When you collapse ill on frozen ground, it’s the color of the snow. When you awake at last to choked sobs, it’s the color of your room. When she stares at you with tearful eyes, it’s the color of her smile. When the doctor speaks in consoling tones, it’s the color of her broken hope. When you stare unfeeling at blank, empty walls, it’s the only color you can see. When you close your eyes that final time, it’s the color of the light.
